Each NCL, Inc. Chapter promotes social awareness by considering the local community’s needs and selecting appropriate non-profit organizations to serve. Benefiting Women and Families in Need
A Wish for Wings – Founded by Pat Skaggs in 1982, a Wish with Wings™ was Texas’ first wish-granting agency. In more than 32 years, they have granted over 1,400 wishes to Texas children fighting life-threatening medical conditions.
Lena Pope Home – The mission of Lena Pope is to help create hope, happiness, and success for children and families. When it started in 1930, Lena Pope was a home for orphans and children in need in the Fort Worth area. Lena Pope has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community. Their focus is on empowering families to stay together.
Safe Haven of Tarrant County – The mission of SafeHaven is to end domestic violence through safety, support, prevention and social change.
The Ladder AllianceThe Ladder Alliance mission is to provide women victims of domestic violence or low-income women with the tools to lead self-reliant, independent, and successful lives.
The Women’s Center – Founded in 1979, the mission of The Women’s Center is inspiring, teaching and empowering women and families to overcome violence, crisis and poverty. The Women’s Center offers hope for a better tomorrow to the women, men and children of Tarrant County.
Benefiting Children in Need
Casa of Tarrant County – CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Tarrant County is an organization of volunteer advocates who stand up on behalf of abused and neglected children.
Cook Children’s Health Foundation – Dedicated to the support of Cook Children’s goal to expand services and offer the latest in technology and research while providing compassionate care to children and families throughout the service area.
Educational First Steps – Since 1990, Educational First Steps has been transforming daycare centers in at-risk neighborhoods into nationally accredited preschools.
Make a Wish – Wishes make life better for kids with life-threatening medical conditions. This simple, but powerful belief inspired the founding of Make-A-Wish® and drives everything we do.
NICU Helping Hands – NICU Helping Hands was created in the summer of 2010 because of the overwhelming need in Fort Worth, Texas for a local organization that could support parents of infants in the NICU both educationally and emotionally.
Benefiting Animals and Nature
Humane Society of North Texas – Since 1905, HSNT has worked to eliminate animal cruelty, promote humane values, and end animal homelessness. They strive to lead our community by providing animals with a safe haven through animal rescue, humane education, and life-saving resources.
Streams and Valleys – Streams & Valleys formed to save the river after the flooding and levee construction of the ’40s and ’50s had reduced it to a garbage dump. Today, more than 40 miles of river trails and 8,000 new trees later, they are still the only nonprofit organization committed to saving, sharing and celebrating the Trinity River.
Honor Flight Fort Worth – Honor Flight DFW is dedicated to honoring our veterans for the sacrifices they have made to keep our nation safe by providing them with an all expense paid trip to visit the memorials in Washington D. C., those memorials which symbolize the spirit, sacrifice, and commitment of these American heroes.
USO – The mission of the USO is to lift the spirits of troops and their families and that mission is accomplished on a daily basis thanks to the dedication and generosity of the American people.
Benefiting Our Community
Chapel Hill Academy – A public charter school opened by Lena Pope on August 25, 2008. The vision of Chapel Hill Academy is to offer a rigorous and enriching learning experience for all students, to inspire critical thinking and nurture a respect for self and others.
Como Community Center – Built in 1970, the center provides after school tutoring, children’s sporting programs, a Kids’ Cafe evening meal program and a Mobile Pantry initiative.
Mayfest, Inc. – Mayfest proceeds from each year’s festival are given back to the community in support of programs from three of Mayfest’s founding organizations – The Junior League of Fort Worth, Inc., Streams & Valleys, Inc., and The City of Fort Worth Parks and Community Services. Mayfest, Inc. is proud to have given back more than $6.65 million to benefit the city of Fort Worth and it’s citizens.
Presbyterian Night Shelter – Founded in 1984, Presbyterian Night Shelter is celebrating 30 years of caring and providing for Tarrant County’s homeless population.
Tarrant Area Food Bank – Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) is the primary source of donated food for hunger-relief charities and feeding programs in 13 North Texas counties.
Union Gospel Mission – Since 1888, UGM-TC has worked with compassionate friends like you to provide God’s healthy place to end homelessness, one person at a time.
Van Cliburn Foundation – The Cliburn advances classical piano music throughout the world. Its international competitions, education programs, and concert series embody an enduring commitment to artistic excellence and the discovery of new artists.
Benefiting Medical Research and Supportive Services
Carley J. Rutledge Foundation – The Rutledge Foundation exists to bring awareness and attention to the over 1 million young adults with cancer. They are committed to finding curative treatments for sarcomas, one of the most aggressive cancers in teens and young adults.
Neuroblastoma 5K Run & Walk for a Cure – As in previous years, proceeds will go directly to Cook Children’s. In 2008, Cook Children’s was selected to join the New Approaches to Neuroblastoma Therapy (NANT) consortium, an organization comprised of just 15 hospitals throughout the United States specializing in neuroblastoma research.
North Texas Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Susan G Komen – The mission of Susan G. Komen Greater Fort Worth is to provide funding for breast health services, breast cancer education and outreach in Tarrant, Parker, Johnson and Hood counties.
